Set up a budget

Cap monthly spending on a category.

A budget is a monthly cap on a single expense category. CiviQ tracks spend against it and shows a status badge per card.

Create

  1. 1
    Open Budgets in the sidebar
  2. 2
    Tap "Create budget"
    The Add budget dialog opens with the subtitle "Cap monthly spend for a category."
  3. 3
    Enter the monthly amount
    The cap in rupees.
  4. 4
    Pick a category
    One of: Food & Dining, Transport, Housing, Bills & Utilities, Shopping, Health & Fitness, Education, Entertainment, Personal, Other.
  5. 5
    Tap "Add budget"
    The budget appears on the Budgets page immediately.

Edit or delete

  • Edit: card three-dot menu → "Edit budget" → change amount → "Save changes"
  • Delete: card three-dot menu → "Delete budget"

Status badges

  • 🟢 On track — under 75% of the cap
  • 🟡 Watch this — 75% to 94%
  • 🔴 Act now — 95% or more

The right panel

  • "Budget health" — overall percentage used across all budgets
  • "Spending without a budget" — categories you spent in this month with no cap set; tap "Set limit" on any row to create one
