Income sources are profiles for each place money comes from. Set them up once and logging income becomes 3 taps instead of filling a full form every time.

Types of income sources

  • 🏒 Salary β€” regular pay from an employer
  • 🏠 Rental β€” rent from a property you own
  • πŸ’Ό Freelance β€” client payments, project fees, consulting
  • πŸ›οΈ Business β€” revenue from your own business
  • πŸ“ˆ Investment β€” dividends, mutual fund payouts, FD interest
  • ✨ Other β€” anything else

Setting up a salary source

1
Go to Income in the sidebar
If you haven't set up any income sources yet, you'll see a setup wizard. If you have, click 'Add income source' in the right panel.
2
Select 'Salary'
The most common type for employed professionals.
3
Enter your employer name
TCS, Infosys, Flipkart, your startup's name β€” whatever it's called. This appears on every logged salary entry.
4
Enter your monthly take-home salary
This is the amount that hits your bank account after tax and PF deductions. Not your CTC. The actual number you see on your bank SMS on salary day.
πŸ’‘ If your salary varies slightly month to month due to LOP or reimbursements, enter your typical amount. You can adjust it when you log each month.
5
Select 'Usually credited on which day?'
This is just for reminders β€” CiviQ won't auto-log on this date (salaries are too unpredictable for that). Pick the typical day: 1st, 25th, last working day, etc. Or select 'Unpredictable' if it varies.
6
Select which account it goes to
Your HDFC Savings? Your salary account at ICICI? Pick the right one β€” this is where the income will be credited when you log it.
7
Tap Save
Your salary source is set up. Next month, logging your salary will take 3 taps.
Example
A freelancer's income setup:

β€’ Salary β€” Atkins Consulting β€” β‚Ή85,000 β€” 25th β€” HDFC
β€’ Freelance β€” Acme Corp β€” β‚Ή35,000 typical β€” HDFC
β€’ Freelance β€” StartupXYZ β€” β‚Ή20,000 typical β€” HDFC
β€’ Rental β€” Koramangala 2BHK β€” β‚Ή22,000 β€” 5th β€” SBI

Every month, this person can log all income in under 60 seconds.

Why CiviQ doesn't auto-log salary

If the 1st falls on a Sunday, your salary might come on December 31st. Or 2 days late because HR was on leave. Or it might be 3% higher because you got a spot bonus. Auto-logging the wrong amount on the wrong date would make your records wrong. Instead, CiviQ sends you a reminder and makes logging take 3 taps when you actually receive it.
