Getting started

Add your bank accounts and wallets

Set up the accounts that hold your money.

4 min read

CiviQ tracks balances against three account types: Bank, Wallet, and Cash. There is no separate credit-card type. Every expense, income, and transfer is linked to one of these accounts.

Account types

  • 🏦 Bank β€” any savings, salary, or current account
  • πŸ“± Wallet β€” UPI, gift card, prepaid, or other digital wallets
  • πŸ’΅ Cash β€” physical cash on hand

Add an account

  1. 1
    Open Accounts in the sidebar
    Click "Accounts".
  2. 2
    Tap "Add account"
    The Add account dialog opens.
  3. 3
    Pick the type
    Bank, Wallet, or Cash.
  4. 4
    Enter the name
Used everywhere this account appears β€” transaction lists, dropdowns, balance cards. Examples: "HDFC Savings", "PhonePe", "Cash".
  5. 5
    Enter the opening balance
The current balance as of today. CiviQ adjusts this with every expense, income, and transfer you log.
  6. 6
    Tap Save
The account appears on the Accounts page immediately.
If the opening balance is wrong, every later balance is off by the same amount. Double-check it on the bank app before saving.

How balances move

CiviQ does not connect to your bank. Balances change only when you log an expense, income, or transfer in CiviQ.
